Construction of Rs 8,380 cr Agra Metro Rail Project to begin on 7 Dec
New Delhi: The construction of the Rs 8,380 crore Agra Metro Rail Project (AMRP) will begin on 7 December. In the first phase, Sikandra to Taj East Gate corridor are scheduled to be constructed. The movement of traffic on the corridor is likely by December 2022, a statement by the Uttar Pradesh Government said.
The corridor will have 6 stations- Taj East gate, Basai & Fatehabad Road, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Jama Masjid. The project will benefit about 25 lakh people of Agra. About 60 lakh tourists who visit the city every year will also be benefitted by the project.
The aim of the project is to ease the movement of the citizens of the city as well as to support tourism as the city has world famous monument Taj Mahal. The moment gets visitors from around the world, apart from different part of India.
