ED nabs senior official of this realty firm; gets 4-day custody to interrogate him
New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested CFO of realty player Amarpali Group-Chandra Wadhwa in connection with its probe in the major financial fraud and mishandling of 42,000 homebuyer’s money.
Wadhwa was arrested by ED from Delhi. The probe agency has registered a case against the realty player under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 in July last year.
Following the arrest, a special ED court has granted four day custody of Wadhwa to ED for interrogation.
Special Judge DK Sharma ordered the custody after an application filed by ED. The application mentioned that the ED wants to question Wadhwa to find out which companies the group invested money of flat buyers where.
The ED also intends to face Wadhwa with other arrested accused during questioning. ED’s Lucknow division had arrested Wadhwa.
Shiv Priya and Anil Sharma, directors of Amarpali Group, were arrested by ED in some time ago and are now in jail.
ED is also trying to find out how the officials in the then governments granted various permissions to the realty player for promoting various real estate projects even as there were several complaints by the home buyers of non completion of the projects.
