Mumbai, Pune account for highest share in housing sales among top cities
New Delhi: The housing property market in Mumbai and Pune are thriving and have left behind Delhi NCR in sales terms. It was Delhi NCR which dominated the scene until 2013 but the sales in Delhi NCR has become somewhat muted now.
Of the 58,300 houses sold in the top seven cities in first quarter (Q1) of 2021, Mumbai and MMR and Pune accounted for lions share of 53 percent together. Delhi NCR on the other hand contributed only 15 percent
In 2013, there were 3.19 lakh homes sold in the top seven cities and Mumbai and Pune together accounted for 33 percent share and Delhi NCR accounted for 37 percent share, data from Anarock showed.
“From 2013 to date, MMR and Pune have been consistently ramping up year-on-year sales share while Delhi-NCR saw a decelerating trend. The major factors aiding these western markets included active implementation of MahaRERA and timely government interventions to boost housing demand. Simultaneously, developers here put in determined efforts to bridge the demand-supply gap,” said Anuj Puri, Chairman - ANAROCK Property Consultants.
