NAREDCO, GRIHA Join Hands To Promote Green Buildings
New Delhi: With an objective to promote green buildings in the country, the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA).
Both NREDCO and GRIHA will approach municipal bodies and state governments to list out incentives for GRIHA Certified Green Buildings.
“The objective of the MoU is to exchange information on the latest developments in our respective fields that are of common interest, and jointly work, in particular to benefit the Real Estate Sector. Both parties will participate in each other’s events and program and will help in the advancement of Green Buildings in India as the mainstream choice for all stakeholders of real estate sector,” said Niranjan Hiranandani, National President, NAREDCO.
The two bodies will also develop programmes for implementation of sustainable practices in the construction field in the country. Hey will also hold seminars and conferences for the consultants, builders and contractors in the industry to promote the idea of sustainable construction practices.
They will also conduct training programmes for each other. The MoU also entail exchange of information, data and trends in the real estate industry.
GRIHA is an indigenous green building rating system developed specifically to suit Indian climate and construction practices.
The MoU has initially been inked for a period of five years.
