NAREDCO's ecom platform for homes HousingForAll.com bites dust
New Delhi: The portal launched with much fanfare by real estate industry body NAREDCO for sale of homes - HousingForAll.com has bitten dust already. The portal was launched only in January 2020 by Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry Secretary Durga S Mishra who had expressed hope that the portal will become "Amazon of Indian real estate".
NAREDCO had planned to list only completed housing projects that are RERA-registered on the website. The portal had opened up for realtors only from 14 January 2020 to 13 Feb 2020 to list their projects. NAREDCO had hoped that over 1,000 projects would be listed in this period.
Various realty industry bodies like CREDAI-MCHI, Builders Association of India (BAI) and other industry associations like CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM and Indian Merchant Chambers (IMC) are also partners in the launch of the website.
It is not known since when Housingforall.com is non-functional but RealtynInfra.com has been trying to log on to the website for the last three months but even the home page does not load. Emails sent to the NAREDCO National President Niranjan Hiranandani by Realtyninfra.com have not elicited any response.
The website was supposed to solve many of the homebuyers’ problems like by providing location of the project site on the Google Maps and also actual distances from two or three key places in the city. It was also supposed to provide videos or sometimes walk-throughs of the project and also of the approach to the proposed tower.
The website was meant to provide walk-through tour of sample flat also. It was also to provide map of the project site together with schools, universities, café, restaurants and malls nearby the project.
The initiative of NAREDCO and so many industry bodies was meant to ease the process of buying homes in the country by making available the option of directly booking a house on the portal with a refundable payment of as low as Rs 25,000. The person booking the house was to get money back guarantee.
