New highways, including economic corridors, worth Rs 2.24 lakh cr to come up in TN, Kerala, WB and Assam

New Delhi: The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said there will be new highways construction work in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam with a total investment of Rs 2.24 lakh crore.

While Tamil Nadu will get new economic corridors worth Rs 1.03 lakh crore. Kerala will get 1,100 kms of highways with an investment of Rs 65,000 crore.

West Bengal will get new highway projects with a total investment of Rs 25,000 crore including the upgradation of Kolkata –Siliguri Highway.

Assam will get new highways projects totalling 1,300 kms with an investment of Rs 34,000 crore. 

“Highways and road construction projects worth Rs 3.3 lakh crore  have already been awarded under the Bharatmala Pariyojna. By March 2022, another 8500 kms of highways will be awarded by the government,” said Sitahraman while presenting the Union Budget 2021.
