New scheme to be launched for running 20k new buses under PPP mode in urban India:FM

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam today said there will be a new scheme for development of urban infrastructure with an investment of Rs 18,000 crore under PPP mode under which private entities will be able to own and run 20,000 buses.

“Private entities will be able to own, operate, run and manage a fleet of 20,000 buses under the new scheme for development of urban infrastructure. The total investment under the scheme will be Rs 18,000 crore”, Sitahrama said.

She also said new highways construction work in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam will be made involving an investment of Rs 2.24 lakh crore.

 About 8,500 kms of highways construction projects will be awarded by March 2022 under the Bharatmala Pariyojna, the Finance Minister said while presenting the Union Budget 2021.
