Road travel time between Delhi, Meerut going to be cut 50 minutes

New Delhi: The road travel time between Delhi and Meerut is going to be cut to about 50 minutes from 1 April 2021. The NHAI has announced that Phase-2 and Phase-4 of Delhi-Meerut expressway will become operational from tomorrow.

The current road travel time is 2 hours. Only Phase-1 and Phase-3 of the expressway are functioning as of now.

This will be a 14-lane expressway. The maximum speed of 70 kms per hour has been allowed from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to the UP Gate. The speed limit from the UP Gate to Meerut city has been fixed at 100 kms per hour.

Vehicles like two-wheelers and tractors will not be allowed to use the expressway. Around 200 high precision cameras have been put in place at various intervals. These cameras will be able to take picture of the number plates of vehicles from around half-a-kilometre.
