Uttar Pradesh allows mining of sand on private land
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh government has allowed mining for various construction materials such as sand on private land. The miner will have to procure mining licence from government at double the existing royalty rates.
Geology and Mining Department Roshan Jacob said that construction materials are found in good quantities on private land. But there were no rules and regulations governing mining on such land.
The Department earned revenues of Rs 420 crore in the ongoing fiscal. This is 22 percent up from previous year. The import of other minerals from various states into UP accounted for additional revenues of Rs 120 crore by way of inter-state transit pass fees.
