Warehousing attracts investment of Rs 28,000 cr: Colliers

New Delhi: Warehousing segment of real estate industry has attracted investment inflows of Rs 28,000 crore since 2017 till the first half of 2020, accounting for about 17 percent share of overall private equity (PE) real estate investment.

Since the beginning of 2019 till the first half of 2020, industrial and warehousing segments of the real estate industry accounted for third highest share of PE investments after office and retail segments, according to a report by Colliers India.

In the coming one year, Colliers believes that in-city warehouses will become more popular. It expects occupiers to choose in-city warehousing space of sizes 5,000-10,000 square feet in major demand hubs like Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bengaluru.

It also expects PE inflow from both foreign and domestic funds to increase in the coming 2-3 years as the existing players expand and new players join the market due to robust demand from e-commerce and other occupiers.
